HEARTS & HOPES OF HORDEN 💙

2024

Hearts & Hopes of Horden brough together the community of Horden to explore their future hopes and what it means to be from a place like Horden. The project worked with young people from Creative Youth Opportunities as well as in schools, with community groups and utilised a series of pop-up interventions including putting the heart back into Horden, referencing the Marra Statue in the Welfare Park with his heart ripped out.

The project included a word poem developed into a film with artists Katherine Goda and Carl Joyce. A reflection on the power and beauty of where we come from, despite the flaws that others perceive. An inexpressible love of the people and place that make it. This our home. It has defined who we are and we wouldn't change it for the world but we have lots of hopes for its future and for the next generation who call it home.
