SCRAN

2025

SCRAN is a contemporary response from artists and communities engaging and reacting with Gordon Matta-Clark’s ‘FOOD’, exploring food, the county and art & creativity.

SCRAN features commissions by artists Lady Kitt, Pink Collar Gallery and Max Cooper-Clark, alongside Roisin Crowley Linton and Jonluke McKie.

SCRAN is open to visitors from Tuesday 2nd September - Saturday 13th September 10am - 3pm.

This is a living webpage that will eventually serve an in-depth public archive of the project. For now you’re invited to join us from early September, then for a closing event, a culmination of 2 week’s of work by the project artists in Peterlee.

*SCRAN is open to visitors in our pop-up space from Tuesday 2nd September - 13th September 10am - 3pm, except for 7th and 8th.

Week 1

  • Tuesday 2nd September

Fantasy Dinner Party Prints with Tallulah Lines 11am–1pm

Imagine your perfect dinner party – food, guests, music and atmosphere. Turn your ideas into lino prints with artist Tallulah Lines, contributing to a giant textile tablecloth that will become the centrepiece of SCRAN.

  • Wednesday 3rd September

    - Fantasy Dinner Party Prints with Tallulah Lines 11am–1pm

    - Coil Pots & Slab-Built Mugs with Sophie Keith 11am–1pm

Keep building the communal dinner party tablecloth with Tallulah, then join ceramicist Sophie Keith to hand-build your own coil pot or mug decorated with sayings, patterns or memories connected to mealtimes.

  • Thursday 4th September

    - Floral & Herbal Creations with Bettie Hope 11am–1pm

Learn flower preservation techniques and create decorative herbal wands rooted in ritual. These handmade pieces will add colour, scent and meaning to the SCRAN table.

    - SCRAN Presents - FOOD, COUNTY, ART - a discussion with Jessamyn Fiore, Graham Easterlow and Ellen Mara De Wachter 1.30pm-3pm

What does it mean to talk about food as art? And what happens when that conversation starts here, in County Durham?

For one afternoon only, SCRAN brings together three brilliant voices for a discussion about food, community and creativity.

Tickets can be book via eventbrite:
