OWTSIDE #4: AMY KIM GROGAN, ELLEN DIXON & BETHAN HARRIS

Artist: AMY KIM GROGAN
Title: ‘I dropped my ham on the stairs, then I picked it up and ate it ’ (2016)

Info:

My name is Amy Kim Grogan, I am a Scottish sculptor that graduated from the MFA programme at the Glasgow School of Art with Distinction in 2022. Prior to my MFA I gained a BA (hons) in Sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art in 2017. My workregularly stems from disrupting and/or emphasising overlooked objects and acts – all arise from a fundamental interest or an occasional discomfort on my behalf. I relay my curiosity through increased scale, multiples and material. Collectively, all pieces exert absurdity and often humour.

Artist: ELLEN DIXON
Title of work: ‘Us and All Surrounding’ (2 works from the series)

Info:

Ellen Dixon is a North East-based photographer whose eclectic work combines portraiture, documentary and landscape forms in analogue media to produce an intimate, ongoing journal of Newcastle’s LGBTQIA+ community and finding beauty in the mundane. As a gender fluid person that has witnessed first-hand the restricted opportunities for marginalised artists that have long plagued the medium of photography, Ellen’s images and exhibitions are motivated by an urgency to uplift those around them. They chronicle untold stories of everyday happenings, queer collectivity, pleasure and care, joy and silliness.
